Yes, this is a philadendron. A fabulous green concrete creation.
Constance Mele makes a cast from each leaf using high-strength concrete. After slow curing, she protects each piece with an anti-fungal, anti-moss sealing agent. Each leaf is hand-painted and has a durable polyurethane final coat.

This saw palmetto is my favorite-such a rich turquoise with a cute little shell. I use this to display jewelry (quite beautifully, I might add).
Now tell me this isn't the cutest brussel sprout bowl you have ever seen. Most of her pieces have shells added as embellishments.

What a beautiful birdbath this giant elephant ear would make. Constance has several different colors available.

Happiness is being in my brand new shop. It's bright and cheery; everything feels fresh and new, and with spring around the corner, Joolz is ready to bloom where we are now planted.

Joolz, Trinkets & Baubles has moved! We are now across the street inside The Limelight, at 118 S. Broad Street. The girls at The Limelight have been kind enough to give Joolz our own entrance - to further allow our own identity. Many, many thanks to Carmen, Jackie and Brooke.
We're a little boho and lots of fun.

New artists and new digs....but our focus has remained the same. Handcrafted, eco-friendly, and fair trade treasures.

The fun,witty, and a little naughty, Erin Smith is from Atlanta.

Many people know that I have a soft spot in my heart for our local Food Bank & Coat Closet; especially now, that coats and blankets are needed so desperately.

Last night after Thomasville's Music & Drama Troupe Christmas production, I am really in the spirit.

My favorite, favorite Christmas movie, White Christmas, was showcased. I watch it every year. One song stays with me year round: "When you are troubled and cannot sleep, count your blessings instead of sheep, and you'll fall asleep counting your blessings...."

Traditions are what make this time of year more special. What are some of your Christmas traditions? What traditions are you creating?

On a funny note, my husband & daugther picked out the tree, put it up & put on the lights-all without me. A comedy in action. But, I'm sorta likin' it--just putting on ornaments was calming & fun. Maybe this is a NEW tradition at our house?!

I'm sitting in front of my tree, my dogs are laying in front of the fire and my cat is helping me type. As I sit here in the early quiet of a new day, I am once again overwhelmed by my blessings.

It's taken a little longer this year, but I'm finally getting in the "Christmasy" mood. For me it takes stepping back and embracing the joy and true meaning of this season.

I have lots to be thankful for: my health, my "just turned 16" daughter, my patient & kind husband, my sweet home. I can go on and on. Yes, I am truly blessed.

Thanksgiving IS an attitude of gratitude.

Thanksgiving IS turkey, friends, napping, pecan pie, football, old movies, holding hands around a table saying grace. Simple pleasures to be sure; but pleasures I've learned not to be taken for granted.

Kee-Kee's not here, so I'm giving you a sneak peek! We JUST got these goodies in, they're not even out yet - but here they are.

We love love love this new artist - Sarah Cavender Metalworks - she's an Alabama chic, and she makes all kinds of beauties with metal mesh, links, etc.

We're getting in more over the next couple months, but right now we've got some delicate + refined bracelets, very traditional looking, with an industrial edge.

We've also got a couple of brooches {oh yes, people are wearing them now, just pin 'em on a scarf!} - a killer dragonfly with jeweled eyes, and a silvery flower. Plus some earrings.

What makes her work so unique is the color.... think soft pinks to bright teals, all in the metal.....

First Friday was fun. Lots of people enjoyed the lemonade and Bunny's scrumptious 'cake pops'.

Downtown Thomasville was full of visitors yesterday, the Saturday before the 4th; we are so very pleased to have them.

Simple Pleasures: A friend I have not seen since high school (35 years ago) walked in the store-it totally made my day.

Aaaahhh--Just dreamin!

Well, the weekend is upon us--what will you do?

I really, really want to finish my outdoor room project-but so much to do and so little time. Maybe next week.

Also, family is coming to town, so we will be "catching up" and and enjoying afresco dining at Cafe Marebella.

Graduation is in the air, and chapters are ending and others are beginning. Sometimes, don't you want to have a clean slate all over again like these grads? But then again--

Joolz is not quite 300 S/F and my friend, Bunny, has helped me tremendously with the PLAN. It's coming up on a year that we have been open and it's time to swoosh it up a bit.

Wondering what kinds of hats we'll have for the Derby Hat Party??

Here's your sneak peek! This is just a few of the hats - we'll have many more, all different shapes, sizes and colors, plus we'll have some special selections from Joolz to go with your Derby outfit (or just any outfit!) - and Hicks will be here with men's Derby ties and bow-ties. Hat prices start at around $35.

Don't forget to check out all of the Rose Show festivities downtown beginning Thursday. I stopped into Thomas County Hardware yesterday, and their roses were so big, beautiful and fragrant, I can't get them out of my head.

Howlin At The Moon

Hope everyone had a fab weekend. I certainly did. Spent it relaxing and enjoying friends on my new flagstone patio, thanks to the hubby and our "can do anything" neighbor.

Meet Janie and Sara! Sisters that love to get together, look over the lake, drink wine and create.

These two have shared their talents with Joolz since the beginning-and we LOVE them. I apologize profusely for these fuzzy pics. I am learning this camera and these photos just don't do these lovelies justice-

I've got bauble fever - she's got bauble fever - we've got bauble fever... and there's only one cure. A bauble a day - will keep the fever at bay - at least this is what the experts say

Well, I have to say, this past weekend was quite the learning experience. My daughter had spring break, and I insanely agreed to take her to the beach with SIX OTHER TEENAGE GIRLS.

Why, you might ask? I wanted, no, I needed to sit on the sand; smell the salt air and listen to the ocean. Only a fair amount of drama ocurred and a good time was had by all.

Now, it's back to Joolz. Come see our new beach bags--too cute. Hope you have had a Marvelous Monday.

Relax, Restore, Refresh

I'm sitting on my deck watching the sun come up and listening to the birds' good morning songs. So very peaceful and the stillness "restoreth my soul".

I love Easter. It is a time for reflection and new beginnings, family, friends and praising the Lord for all of our abundant blessings.

I plan on working today, enjoying friends and new friends as they visit Joolz on the lovely bricks of Thomasville.

Bright silk/gauze scarves just arrived yesterday-very light weight, just that pop of color you need, and they'll make you feel so pretty all wrapped up in delightful softness.

Happy Weekend-make it special. We all need to bloom too!

The pink Baby Mo scarf is gone, but we have a peach one and a yummy butter yellow. So perfect for a chilly Easter morning.

And the new Extasia jewelry, well.....see for yourself. They're catching eyes on the sidewalk and people are so taken with them that they're taking them home!

Extasia glass cameos and intaglios are handmade in Europe by a small number of artisans using 100 year old techniques. The beautiful settings are original designs by Stefanie Freydont & her design team.

Your new word for today: Intaglio is an engraving which is etched into the background of the glass or stone instead of carved into the background like a cameo. Intaglios were used as royal seals.

I am so excited about all this sunshine. Visions are drifting through my brain & lighting up my senses: a hammock and a good book, flowers blooming everywhere, the fabulous aroma of just-cut grass, the smell of grills firing up all over the neighborhood on Saturday afternoons--you get the drift.

What to do with all this glorious blue sky??? I love, love, love piddling in my yard and boy does it need some love. So, today, while MaryEllen is in Joolz, I will be mowing the lawn, digging in the dirt a little and totally enjoying this amazing day.

Oh, and to top it off - spending a girls' night with a dear friend for her 50th birthday!

Beauty doesn't have to be complicated, it's everywhere. We just have to be smart enough to enjoy it.

Advant Garde is a family owned business mostly handmade in France and the U.S. These artisan pieces are pewter based, plated with siliver or brass and then varnished to preserve color. This line is progressive by nature with its omitting of nickel and lead for the environment.

My idea of heaven!

The month of May was insane.

As a rule, June is fairly calm. But! Lots of changes comin' at Joolz.

I have been "swooshing'" up the shop all weekend, and STILL have so much to do. Closed tomorrow, still "swooshing".

Don't forget First Friday-June 4: specials, sidewalk artist-Cindi Inman and music (all at Joolz, Downtown Thomasville).
